The university is currently driving an ambitious expansion of the School of Science. In this context, a new academic position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level (tenure-track) has been opened. Accordingly , Constructor University invites applications from interested candidates for the following position, to be filled ideally by September 2024:

Assistant / Associate Professor of Chemistry of "Advanced Materials" (m/f/d)

(full time; 38.5 hrs./week; tenure track)

Y our responsibilities:

You are expected to establish an internationally leading research group in an experimental area of Chemistry with a strong focus on the synthesis and physicochemical characterization of Advanced Materials. In this context, interdisciplinary research is strongly encouraged.

The successful candidate is further expected to support teaching in Chemistry (lecture and laboratory courses) at the BSc, MSc, and PhD level, to develop and implement innovative, pedagogically sound approaches to online, hybrid and in-person teaching and learning, to advise students on their studies, and to supervise Bachelor, Master and PhD theses and research projects.

The university is highly supportive of junior faculty, providing both formal and informal mentoring, administrative support, as well as a flexible budget for establishing an internationally visible research group. Several opportunities exist to develop multidisciplinary research projects in collaboration with other research groups or our industrial partners, including collaborations in emerging fields such as the use of artificial intelligence in the natural sciences.

Your qualifications:

  • PhD degree in the field of Chemistry or Material Science.

  • Strong publication record

  • Experience and success in teaching in the context of international and diverse environments

  • Demonstrable interest in innovative teaching and learning approaches

  • Experience in transferring research knowledge to solving problems in engineering and science

  • Responsible , self-motivated person able to work independently and as a part of a team

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Intercultural experience and competence

  • Fluency in English, the language of instruction and communication on campus

  • Ideally , the successful candidate should be eligible to apply for an ERC Starting Grant.
